REGENERATION
Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898–1971 explores the achievements and challenges of Black film artists from cinema’s infancy to just after the civil rights movement. The Academy Museum’s landmark exhibition takes an in-depth look at how Black performers and filmmakers—including Oscar Micheaux, the Nicholas Brothers, Cab Calloway, Josephine Baker, Lena Horne, Harry Belafonte, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Sidney Poitier, and Melvin Van Peebles—helped define American cinema.
The Academy Museum Store has curated a collection of merchandise that celebrate and honor the contribution of Black film artists to American cinema.
