About the Author:
Caseen Gaines is the author of six books chronicling key moments in popular culture including E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: The Ultimate Visual History, which was released this summer in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's classic film. His previous works include the award-winning book The Dark Crystal: The Ultimate Visual History, which includes a foreword from Cheryl Henson and an introduction from Brian and Wendy Froud, and We Don't Need Roads: The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy, which led to his appearances on Netflix's "The Movies That Made Us" and Entertainment Tonight.

His next book, When Broadway Was Black: The Triumphant Story of the All-Black Musical That Changed the World, will be published in February and chronicles the groundbreaking 1921 all-Black musical Shuffle Along.

Beyond his books, he has been published at Vanity Fair, io9, and New York Magazine — and has written original features for Rolling Stone, The A.V. Club, and Decider. He has also served as a consultant and ghostwriter on several narrative nonfiction projects.
